A tribute to
Jo Hammerborg

Warm Nordic is proud to present yet another acclaimed name from Denmark’s brilliant design legacy to its design universe: Jo Hammerborg. To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, we are launching a new Jo Hammerborg range in tribute to this iconic lighting designer, who left a distinctive mark on Danish domestic lighting with his unique approach to design and the effect of lighting.

Jo Hammerborg drew inspiration from the early Functionalists and had a passionate ambition to make original lamp designs accessible to everyone, thereby encouraging modern, simple interior decoration. Now his wish comes true once more.

Jo Hammerborg
Two original series with timeless design

In collaboration with Jo Hammerborg’s descendants, Warm Nordic is reintroducing two original, classic lamp series from the 60s and 70s: Trombone and Milieu.

Not only was Trombone to become the lighting designer’s personal favourite, always featuring in his own home; with their rigid, geometric design, the lamps in the series adorned countless Danish homes. Milieu features a more organic design. It is shaped as a multi-layered hemisphere – a clear reference to Jo Hammerborg’s passion for parachuting, which along with the sky was one of his eternal sources of inspiration.

Trombone series
- a design favourite

The Trombone series was designed in 1966 by the renowned Danish lighting designer Jo Hammerborg, the brainchild behind a myriad of original lamps that gradually gained classic status – several of them featuring cylindrical shades. Trombone presented a number of technical challenges during the design process, thus taking on a special significance for Jo Hammerborg when his vision succeeded, and the lamp is one of the designs that enjoyed pride of his place in his own home throughout his life.

It is a simple, elegant lamp featuring a rigid geometric design. The beautiful simplicity of the cylindrical Trombone lamp makes it perfect for any modern interior, reflecting Jo Hammerborg’s design philosophy. The Trombone series features a pendant, table lamp and a floor lamp, all resembling a trombone, the inspiration for the name of the series.

from 1975

An elegant pendant lamp featuring a breath-taking organic design. The Milieu series was originally designed in 1975 by Jo Hammerborg who is behind a myriad of original lamps that gradually gained classic status - several of them featuring soft, organic lines. Milieu Mini Colour is designed in metal and available in Clear White.

The beautiful Milieu Mini Colour pendant floats lightly and elegantly in a room like a celestial body in the sky - an endless source of fascination to Jo Hammerborg. Its multi-layered hemispherical shape creates a beautiful lighting effect with no glare. The original design was inspired by Jo Hammerborg’s great passion for flying and parachuting. Just like a parachute, the individual layers unfold beautifully, and the pendulum features a unique harmony and lightness - marks of a true design classic.
